Raga Surabhi has completed 17 years today. Uma’s creation on this day, on 30th August 2009, has grown into this huge knowledge base. Uma had put her creativity all these years in chiseling and shaping Raga Surabhi to where we are today.
We have a special performance for you for our 17th year milestone. We are very thankful to Ms. Sukanya Kumar for doing this for us.
Bit of back story about this, I had reached out to Ms. Sukanya Kumar in early July requesting her to collaborate for one of Uma’s songs released in YouTube already. That’s when Ms. Sukanya mentioned that Uma had sent her a voice note in October last year with a small composition requesting her if she could perform. Unfortunately we couldn’t do it then. So when I had reached out now, Ms. Sukanya had mentioned about this. I vaguely remembered Uma composing the song, she also used to sing it to me usually. So immediately I searched in our laptop, but I couldn’t find it. But the Almighty helped me find it in her phone. Uma had done a first cut version. Thanks to technology available today, we cleaned it up and shared it with Vijay and rest of the magic unfurled.
This is possibly Uma’s last composition 😔, we have been able to release it to all of you because of the support from Sukanya and Vijay Kannan. Hope you like this, please do share it with friends and family.
