Sumanesa Ranjani - A pentatonic raga that could be roughly described as the prati-madhyama raga of Suddha Dhanyasi. Though both the ragas share the same swaras except Ma, there is a world of difference in the feel of these two ragas. While Suddha Dhanyasi is majestic, bouyant and gamaka laden, Sumanesa Ranjani is sombre and touching. Rasikas might have had the opportunity to listen to Sumanesa Ranjani in the post-main, thukkada segment in concerts.
